Hello and welcome to Queer Computer — a newsletter cruising the meeting point of technology and LGBTQ culture. Log on to explore the erotic and wonderful world of computers, games, and the internet, diving into the past, present and future of queer computing.
So what is Queer Computer?
Queer Computer is an idea — it’s aspirational, it’s something to strive for, cry for, fight for. Queer Computer is performative and it’s everchanging. Queer Computer is political and erotical. Queer Computer believes that queerness is a horizon, something that can never be reached. It’s a feeling of hope in the hopelessness of heteronormativity. Queer Computer looks at the past to understand the future, it probes the history of technology and discovers queerness in the cracks of historical knowledge. It is a refuge from the everyday and it’s filled with unbridled potential.
But what does Queer Computer look like?
Okay I’ll cut the bullshit, currently it’s a newsletter. Each issue will deep dive into a topic, person, or project; if it’s even tangentially connected to queerness and technology you bet I’ll talk about it. Queer Computer will investigate all those overhyped techy things like NFTs, the metaverse, and web3 from an accessible and queer perspective, and also uncover exciting queer initiatives, games, and tech history.
